In the end of the eighties when I lived in New Zealand I was totally cut off from Sweden. It costed around 20 SEK/minute to phone and a fortune to send stuff by airmail. When I was pregnant with our first child and had morning sickness the only thing I wanted to eat was salty licorice. I was dreaming of a special kind shaped as frogs that had a salty powder inside. When I received half a kilo of these I got so happy I cried and guarded them with my life.
Now we live in Sweden since many years but has spent a winter now and then in NZ. LAst time I found myself in different fancy households peeling potatoes for dinnerparties - with a little useless plastic peeler. That is when the dream of scandinavianstuff.com started. Because who can live without Jonas was my thought (a classic Swedish peeler).
Now you can find Ikea at many places and then us :¬). Freight is not that expensive anymore and we get most things you ask us for. Then it is an extra luxury to phone for free and reed the Swedish paper online - GREAT!
But scandinavianstuff.com also want to be there as a service for all the friends and family that runs around looking for Swedish stuff (like me) for other friends and family abroad. To be able to order Swedish things to bring with you when you visit or get us to send them directly.
Then we believe there are a lot of people out there that wants Swedish stuff even if they are not Swedish. For example American's with Swedish heritage shop both food and souvenirs from us.
Now we have been open over a year and we strive to develop all the time.
